BEGINNING FREE MOTION QUILTING



Supply List:
Sewing machine in good working order, be able to drop feed dogs or cover them.  A free motion or darning foot, open toe is preferred.  Bring your instruction manual if you are not familiar with adjusting tension etc. on your machine. 
Two or Three fat quarters (or larger) for quilt sandwiches, white for backing.  Quilters cotton is preferred.  Batting is whatever you have on hand.
Bobbin thread #60 weight, For the top a contrasting color #40 weight,  this will allow you to see what you are stitching on the top and to also see the texture of the design on the back.  If you do not have these threads on hand Cynthia's may be able to help.
Fabric marker of your choice, mechanical pencil works well. 
New 90/14 Topstitch or Sharp needle, bring extras.
Sketch book and pencil for notes and designs.
Basic sewing supplies.
As well as more complicated textures and motifs we will be addressing planning a quilt top. If you have one you would like to get started on, be sure and bring it to class for ideas.
