_SEWING GUILD_

Cynthia's is now the monthly meeting location for the American Sewing Guild local chapter. There are two groups that meet. The Eclectic Threads group is diverse, and our presentations vary, depending on the month, including those applicable to embroidery, garment accessories, quilting, sewing machine techniques and fabric crafting. We focus on techniques that can be applied to any sewn item, and occasionally, we'll do a project-based presentation. We also do sewing for community service organizations. The Eclectic Threads group meets from 10 am until noon on the 3rd Wednesday of each month except July and December. Cynthia's is now the monthly meeting location for the American Sewing Guild local chapter. There are two groups that meet. The group encompasses all types of garment sewing and embellishments from coats, jackets, blouses, and pants to leisure wear and lingerie. We sponsor sew-alongs, focusing on a single project for three or four months during the year, interspersed with presentations on Zoom or in person by well-known sewists around the state demonstrating a variety of methods and techniques to help give our finished garments a professional look and fit. We are working on improving the sustainability of our craft by repurposing existing garments and fabrics with the intent of reducing land-fill waste. We do sewing for community service organizations throughout the year. The COGS group meets from 10 am until noon on the 2nd Friday of each month except July and December. We recommend bringing a 5x7 or 6x8 hoop. Don't worry about materials - Cynthia's will provide fabric and stabilizer. By the end of the class, you'll have a fundamental understanding of embroidery techniques and be ready to tackle your next project with confidence.
