BEGINNING WHEAT WEAVING CLASS - SPIRAL WEAVE

Participants will learn to use wheat straw to weave a Five Straw Spiral Plait. This type of spiral weaving is done around a core, in this case, a wooden spoon. The spiral plait is a mainstay of wheat weavers, and can be plaited around a wire core, then bent or twisted, and formed into interesting shapes: candles, treble clef, cattails. The ideas are endless. No prior experience is necessary, and all materials
will be furnished by the instructor.  Rita Weber, Straw Artist, is a member of the National Association of Wheat
Weavers, and has been weaving for more than 30 years. She has taught classes to participants of all ages, and especially enjoys teaching beginners.
