Ready to explore a whole new world of quilting? Join us for this beginner-friendly **1-2-3 Ruler Work Quilting Class** and learn how to quilt beautiful designs with precision — right on your domestic sewing machine!

Using the **Sew Steady Beginning Essentials Kit**, we’ll guide you step-by-step through the basics of ruler work, including:

* Setting up your machine for ruler quilting
* Getting comfortable with ruler safety and control
* Learning foundational designs like straight lines, curves, circles, and more
* Building your confidence to continue creating at home

This is a hands-on class, perfect for anyone curious about free-motion ruler quilting but unsure where to start. You’ll leave with completed practice blocks, a solid understanding of how to use the templates, and lots of inspiration for your next project.

CLASS SUPPLY LIST

123 BEGINNING RULER WORK SUPPLIES LIST

Sew Steady Beginning Essentials Kit is included with class fee!
Please arrive early enough to have your machine set up and ready to sew before class starts.
The classroom will be unlocked and open 15 minutes before class starts.
• 18” x 21” Fat Quarter Sandwich (plain medium to dark fabric – or a print that is not busy) (You will need 2-3 more FQ sandwiches for Session 2)
• Contrasting 40 or 50 weight quality thread that will show well on FQ sandwich (I recommend Floriani 40 wt)
• Full Bobbin of contrasting thread (same kind as top thread) that will show well on back side of FQ sandwich
• Sewing Machine and Extension table for your machine (a MUST)
• Sew Steady Beginner Essentials Kit (includes generic Westalee Ruler Foot - or you may use or order a custom ruler foot for your machine) 
• #14 Topstitch needle (Janome Skyline 7 or 9, MC 9400, MC 9450, MC 9480, MC 12000, MC 15000, M6, M7, M8 or M17
computerized machines need a Janome Purple top or Red top needle).
Bring extra needle – in case yours breaks.
• Quilting Gloves (suggest Machingers)
• Grid Glider or Super Slider (highly recommended) - green 12 x 20 for large throat / extension table machines; peach 11 x 14 for smaller throat / extension table machines
• Curved tweezers
• 12" - 24" ruler for marking fabric
• Fine-point Frixion Marker or Chaco marker that contrasts well with your fabric
• Seam Ripper
• Scissors (snips) for cutting thread
• Pencil for taking notes (we supply the lesson plan)
